Occupy is about a lot of things, but I suppose a general way I would describe the overarching theme is as follows:

The rich are getting richer, while the poor/middle class are essentially stagnant.  We’re being taxed more but receiving less.  More and more of our money is being fed to big businesses to pocket (ex: bank bailout, wars, oil subsides), yet when it comes to (for example) paying for our schools suddenly “we’re broke.”   At the same time these corporations are exporting jobs, giving their executives huge raises, and then ultimately not paying their fare share of the taxes.  Our government is controlled by corporate lobby groups when it should be run be of/for the people.

My son is 4.  I took him down to the encampment in Portland several times, and I even showed him video of the police clashing with the protestors.  I think he’s too young to understand the full implications of this, but he’s not too you to see that “people are upset and they’re willing to fight for what they believe in.”

I doubt I’m telling you guys anything new, but in the off chance that I am; maybe go check out this video:

I think the information in this video is good, but I think the intonation of the woman’s voice is a little condescending (similar to how many people talk down to children).
